Psalms 13:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Consider [and] hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the [sleep of] death; 4 Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; [Lest] those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
David has moved his attention somewhat from himself to God: changing gradually from a time and space perspective to at least a desire and purpose to see what God sees. Following his space travel,
He has asked God to consider him, and in so doing it seems he is starting to more fully consider God.
He asks God to enlighten him; this is the first evidence that David perceives his problem isn't his enemies but how he is looking at them
He looks back at his enemy and the life and death struggle
But then he comes upon a moment of serious enlightenment: "when I am moved." It's not the external, physical risk of injury or death that is "the issue:" it's what is impacting his inner man of soul, mind and spirit. What is "moving" him?
He then receives enlightenment and that light gives him perspective and that new view causes him to jump from despair to faith: "I will trust" and "I shall rejoice" are a "leap of faith" that wasn't possible before he saw through the time and space issues overshadowing him.
